With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility

About giving back and paying it forward

Almostronaut Creative is a very small light in the business world, but business has been kind to us as we’ve grown into a sustainable, stable agency. With great gratitude, we want to acknowledge that as we are doing well, our capacity to give back and pay it forward must grow as well.

Here are three causes that are dear to our hearts:

1. Doctors Without Borders

The most life-saving, boots-on-the-ground help for those in the scariest circumstances. We cannot stress enough how much of a difference these people make. They go where others can’t or won’t, bringing critical medical care to those who need it most. We support Doctors Without Borders on an ongoing basis because their impact is immediate and profound.

2. APOPO (HeroRATs and HeroDOGs)

On a somewhat lighter note, we love creative problem-solving, and APOPO is an incredible example. This organization trains HeroRATs and HeroDOGs to detect landmines and tuberculosis. Animals with day jobs are not only adorable but also save countless lives. In 2025, we adopted Ronin, who sniffs out landmines in Cambodia. We’re also really invested in Jane‘s education, who is currently training to detect trafficked wildlife products such as pangolin scales, rhino horn, and elephant ivory.

3. Truth and Reconciliation – Orange Shirt Day

September 30th is Orange Shirt Day, a day dedicated to truth and reconciliation for survivors of residential schools in Canada and in memory of those who never came home. It’s a chance to listen, learn, and act. Our headquarters sits on land shaped by generations before us, and we feel a responsibility to acknowledge that past while working toward a future rooted in respect and equity. Volunteering with this movement is one way we try to stay connected to the present, future, and past of the beautiful place we call home.

And in our own backyard…

Beyond these global and national causes, we want to help closer to home by paying it forward. We donate vouchers to local charity auctions, and we offer discounted services to local community organizations and nonprofits when we can. A lot of people are doing incredible important work on a tight budget made out of donations and volunteer hours.

None of us have the ability to fix big problems by ourselves. What we can do is make consistent, small contributions in the hope that, together, they add up to real change for the better.

We respectfully express our gratitude and appreciation to live and create on the unceded traditional territory of the T’Sou-ke First Nation - HÍSW̱KE - as well as the lands around the Mississippi (Bulbancha) River where Native peoples have lived since time immemorial. We strive to uphold our mutual values of storytelling and environmental stewardship.
